Jefferson Regional Medical Center | Replacement Hospital

Pine Bluff, Arkansas

To respond to the growing needs of population it serves, Jefferson Regional Medical Center sought a new vision for its facility — incorporating quality and value within a realistic budget.

This comprehensive planning study facilitated critical discussions and decisions to strategically implement a 237-bed replacement hospital. During the study, TEG examined the existing campus, service lines, physician recruitment, clinical utilization, financial capacity, facility access, campus presence and visibility. This data was utilized to develop extensive conceptual design options to strategically decide on the most viable option for further development. The process included more than 120 hours of user group meetings involving more than 70 physicians and staff members across 36 various departments.

Concepts included a series of 3D models to illustrate how a 200+/- bed hospital would fit on various sites, both existing and hypothetical. Pros and cons of each conceptual option were weighed. Once a conceptual design was selected, a refined Schematic Design Package and Project Construction/Total Project Cost Estimate was performed.

The resulting phased replacement aligned with JRMC’s strategic goals of enhancing patient experience, growing market share, modernizing the facility, bolstering recruitment, improving operational efficiency and preparing financially for the future. The solution includes:

  • Nearly 300,000 SF, including New Construction and Renovations
  • 118,800 SF Bed and Diagnostic Pavilion
  • 77,150 SF Renovation to the Existing North Tower
  • 21,000 SF Support Building
  • 19,000 SF Central Energy Plant
