Extreme Church Makeover
This quaint church had a vision to create a fresh, modern look, grow their capacity and increase their stage to accommodate their musicians — a key element to their unique worship service. Two buildings were located on the existing campus: a two-level, Sanctuary/Fellowship Hall and a separate Gymnasium/Classroom.
This project added almost 19,000 SF of new construction — linking the two existing buildings together, creating a new worship center and allowing the capacity to grow from 100 to 350. The project also accommodated new offices, conference/planning room, classrooms, gymnasium storage, new public restrooms and a recording studio. The design will also allow for future expansion. The stage was increased by 900 SF to accommodate the musicians and musical instruments. TEG worked extensively with Cornerstone¹s sound contractor on a variety of architectural measures to ensure performance capabilities that match or exceed many arenas.
The dark gray brick together with the metal panel and aluminum curtainwall with dark gray glass gave Cornerstone the fresh, modern look that they had hoped for. Members and visitors are met with a 1.5-story lobby with clerestory windows. An industrial feel was provided through diamond polished concrete floors and exposed structure.
