Community Hospital East is currently undergoing a $175 million renovation to accommodate the ever-changing trends in today’s healthcare environment and continue to allow staff to deliver incredibly high-quality care as effectively as possible. A new five-story hospital tower will will be constructed and include an emergency department, medical imaging, surgery, delivery and inpatient rooms.

Recently, facility staff, leadership, community members and project teams gathered to celebrate the "topping out" of the facility, which represents the final installation of major steel. Take a look at the recap of the topping out celebration:

Currently a sprawling campus, the future vision of East seeks to concentrate the heart of patient care within a tighter, more easily navigable tower core. The tower will feature 160 private inpatient rooms as well as redesigned departments including emergency, labor and delivery, medical imaging, and surgery - all with virtually no disruption to current patient care. Parking and security for staff, patients, and visitors will be reshaped to correspond with the updated campus design as well as support future growth of this Indianapolis east-side mainstay.

"This is a great opportunity for us to continue to be an anchor institute on the east side of Indianapolis."
